CoWorking offices in the Heart of Downtown Grass Valley

While coworking has evolved through the many emotional iterations of remote work (from joy, to isolation, to circus-level exhaustion) Lillie Robertson, owner of The WorkSpace Grass Valley, a coworking space with daily, dedicated, and flex-desk options, has created an accessible and town-centered approach to working remotely, outside your home.

Perks: A convenient office open 24/7 in downtown Grass Valley at a price that won’t break the bank.

If the kids are screaming, the dog is barking, the Wi-Fi is down, and the laundry is running full cycles all day––phone calls, virtual meetings, and undisrupted silence have likely become a comical daydream. If you’re sans-kids, the opposite problem may find you–– talking only to your cat all day gets lonely, and very uninspiring.

Perks: Human life is close by, and completely nondependent.

Lillie wanted to create a space that offered the community aspects of remote work that cannot be found at home: distraction-free working among local professionals with super-fast Wi-Fi, even on days when most locals are without power. “I see people working in coffee shops, and for me, I could never do that,” shares Lillie. “I think having a quiet, dedicated space to get your work done is really key to productivity. The coffee shop atmosphere can be distracting––people walking back and forth, the music, the milk frother––it can get expensive, I mean how long can you sit there without ordering something? I think it’s inspiring to sit in a room and see other people working diligently, it kind of makes you want to follow suit.”

Nicole Wright, Lillie’ s partner and The WorkSpace Manager, brought her eye for design when the two teamed up to create a hip vibe and creative space––skylights, green plants, live edge wood surfaces, and cool curios––with plenty of desk space to spread out.

Oh, and Perks: The coffee is always free.
